Privacy Policy for Sleep
AI ML Agents Labs ("we", "us") builds Sleep, an Android app that plays mixable sleep, ambient and focus sounds with a sleep timer and saved presets. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how you can access or delete it.
1. Summary
- You can use the core app — playing sounds, using the sleep timer, and saving presets on the device — without creating an account.
- Signing in with Google is optional, and only used to back up and sync your saved presets across your devices.
- We collect usage and crash diagnostics to keep the app working, and we show ads unless you have an active premium subscription.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not collect audio, microphone input, contacts, photos, or precise location.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account information (only if you sign in)
If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google supplies us with your email address, display name, profile picture URL and a Google account identifier. Firebase Authentication creates a user ID (UID) for you. If you never sign in, an anonymous Firebase UID may be created so that analytics events can be written under access-controlled rules; that anonymous ID is not linked to your name or email.
2.2 App content you create
Sound presets you save (the preset name, which sound layers are on, and their volumes) are stored on your device. If you are signed in, they are also stored in Cloud Firestore under your UID so they sync to your other devices.
2.3 Usage and diagnostics
- Analytics events — which screens you open and which features you use (for example play/pause, timer set, preset saved, paywall shown, ad loaded), with an app session identifier and a timestamp. These are sent to Firebase Analytics and mirrored to our own Cloud Firestore
eventscollection, stamped with the Firebase UID described above. - Crash and stability data — via Firebase Crashlytics: stack traces, device model, OS version, app version and the installation identifier, collected from release builds when the app crashes or misbehaves.
- Device and app information — device model, OS version, language, country and app version, as reported by the Google SDKs listed below.
2.4 Advertising
Unless you hold an active premium subscription, the app shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may process your advertising identifier, coarse (non-precise) location derived from your IP address, device information and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads. Where required (EEA, UK and Switzerland), the app shows a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before personalised ads are requested, and your choice is respected. You can reopen the privacy options form from the app's Settings screen where it is available for your region.
2.5 Purchases
Premium subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment; we never receive or store your card or payment details. The app receives and caches your entitlement state (whether a subscription is active) and purchase tokens supplied by Google Play so it can unlock premium features and hide ads.
2.6 Notifications
The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver occasional announcements. This involves a device push token. On Android 13 and above, notifications are only sent if you grant the notification permission, and you can revoke it at any time in Android Settings.
2.7 What we do not collect
The app requests only these permissions: internet and network state, foreground service and media playback (to keep sounds playing with the screen off), wake lock, and post notifications. It does not access your microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, files, SMS, call logs, health data or precise GPS location.
3. Why we use the data
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Provide app functionality (playback, timer, presets) | App content you create, device settings |
| Sync presets across your devices | Account UID, presets |
| Fix crashes and improve stability | Crash logs, device and app info |
| Understand which features are used and improve them | Analytics events, session identifier |
| Show and measure ads, and comply with consent rules | Advertising identifier, ad interaction, consent status |
| Unlock premium and remove ads | Purchase and entitlement state from Google Play |
| Send announcements you have opted into | Push token |
| Configure features remotely and roll out changes safely | Firebase Remote Config, app instance identifier |
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the app and your purchases), your consent (personalised ads, notifications, optional sign-in), and our legitimate interests (security, crash fixing, understanding aggregate product usage).
4. Service providers we share data with
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing. Data is processed on our behalf by:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, Hosting. See Firebase privacy.
- Google AdMob and its advertising partners. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services and AdMob partners.
- Google Play — billing, in-app review and in-app updates. See the Google Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety or the integrity of the service.
5. Where data is stored and for how long
Data processed through Firebase and Google services is stored on Google's servers, which may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Transfers rely on the safeguards Google applies, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Presets — kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Analytics events — retained up to 14 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Crash reports — retained up to 90 days by Crashlytics.
- On-device data — removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
6. Your rights and choices
- Delete your account and synced data — in the app, open Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also request deletion at any time by writing to us; see our account deletion page for the full procedure.
- Access, correct or export your data — email us and we will respond within 30 days.
- Advertising — reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, change your consent choice from the app's privacy options form, or remove ads entirely with a premium subscription.
- Notifications — turn them off in Android Settings for the app.
- Sign out — signing out stops preset sync; presets already saved on the device remain there.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children
Sleep is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access to synced presets is restricted by Firebase security rules so that only the signed-in owner can read or write their own documents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
